Using blog carnival to add content to your blog

In 2007 (or maybe 2008!) I was a regular user of Blog Carnival – it is a place to go to submit a particular blog post to a “carnival” that focuses on a particular topic. The host of the carnival will then add the entire thing to his/her blog. The idea is to get content from other bloggers that focus on an area you do (or do not) cover. So I may run a blog carnival on search engine optimization (SEO) and invite people to add their blog posts about it because I really don’t know enough about it to comment.

From December 2009 I will be adding Blog Carnivals again because they are an excellent way to get traffic in a few different ways

Firstly, you get the authors visiting your blog to check you out (always recommended before you post so you know where your content is going to end up)

Secondly, you get a load of content without having to do too much work – although you should always check submissions to check they are worth including

And thirdly if you add your blog post it means you get a link from the blog that the carnival is hosted on back to you, which is always great to help with rankings. And if you are the carnival host you get the blog owner you included talking about you on their blog (sometimes – not all blog owners do this)

There are a lot of plus points for running and taking part in Blog Carnivals and the main negative is the time it takes to be active in them – especially if you want to submit yours to a load of different carnivals.  You might want to try submitting to three or four first and then running one to test the water and see whether you think they are worth doing.

The blog carnivals I run will focus on the important areas of building a blog business that I don’t cover. If you are an expert in this area and would like to be a guest blogger on here plesase get in touch.

  • Search Engine Optimization and link building
  • Article Marketing
  • Social Media and Marketing
  • Reputation building
  • Relationship Marketing, persuasian marketing, attraction marketing – and any other type of marketing

If I think of anything else I will let you know. I will also focus on topics I know about because other people might provide a different perspective on the same topic that you will find interesting.

Any requests for carnivals?
