If you have ever wondered how to get the most out of blogging for your local business then you might want to listen to my 40 minute audio recording that I have created after speaking at a recent event. It is a complete guide to blogging from the angle of building relationships and meeting the needs of the people you want to help.

During the seminar I cover three important factors you have to consider to ensure your blog does the job of getting your business noticed. Rather than become obsessed about how many Twitter followers you have and whether your blog should have a left or a right hand menu the audio takes you through the real steps to helping your blog get noticed.

Ultimately the people you want to find you are the local people searching for you not the random person living in a completely different country so you need to ensure when you blog you focus on the local people you want to attract.

I help local businesses within the Greater London area create a local search marketing plan that will help them get found online by the local people searching for their product/service.

You need to know who you help locally, what you do for them and you have to make yourself different while doing it and during this seminar I go through an exercise that shows you how to do that which you can use to help you. I also recommend you sign up to receive our free report on local search marketing.

In my case I help people to “do it yourself” rather than take on the expense of an SEO company or think that they can’t compete because they don’t have the budget to do that – and a lot of this stuff really is basic enough to get a handle on if you can only turn off that 80s Youtube video you are listening to, stop playing scrabble on Facebook and focus in on it. :)

Local search is the term used to describe a person typing in their location to find a local business or service provider; for example “florist in Hammersmith.”

If you are a local business there is a huge increase in the number of people using the internet to find their local service provider or product and your business needs to have a presence on the web to make sure they find you.  Whether it is van hire or finding a local campsite in a particular part of the country the internet has become one of the easiest ways for people to find the local information they want and they don’t have to be at home to find you either. Mobile searches – whether done on a mobile phone or lap top on the train are also becoming popular ways for people to search for a local business.

If I am on my way from London to Manchester and want to find a local cab company to take me from the station to my destination I can search while I am on the train and have the car waiting for me when I arrive.

So local search is being used by an increasing number of people and US research has predicted it is only going to increase – in fact the search engines are taking it very seriously and are doing more to help local businesses get found online.
